Psychiatry
Barwon Health’s Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) is a forward-looking unit with a vision to be at the leading edge of psychiatric treatment.
We are always seeking motivated, skilled and curious psychiatrists to join our service and have opportunities at various levels across our general acute, community services and specialist programs.
About the service
Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. The department supports a wide range of psychiatric services including general adult psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, old age psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, rural psychiatry (Colac), eating disorders, substance misuse disorders, perinatal psychiatry and research psychiatry. We have a strong commitment to excellence in clinical education and research activities (the IMPACT & CHIME units) and a dedicated focus on preparing senior trainees for consultant practice.
Psychiatry Registrars
As Victoria's largest regional health service, we offer the highest-quality psychiatry training available in Australia and New Zealand. Our trainees are immersed in a positive and engaged culture where they are challenged and supported to become exceptional psychiatrists. We provide an extensive variety of core and non-core RANZCP training rotations, all of which are supervised by accredited RANZCP Consultant Psychiatrist Supervisors.
