Swanston Centre

The Swanston Centre provides intensive mental health care, support and treatment for people aged over 18.

The care team comprises psychiatrists, mental health nurses, peer workers, social workers and occupational therapists who provide 24-hour care.

Support includes:

  • Therapy and wellbeing programs
  • Physical healthcare
  • Medication support
  • Assistance with financial and social support
  • Linkages with local community services

The care team works with the individual and their support network, and aims to offer respectful support and care to all involved. The model of care is recovery orientated and trauma-informed (evidence-based). Working as flexibly as possible for each and every person to provide personalised care and support. Care planning is completed with the individual along with their supporters and aims to provide hope and empowerment to all involved.

For those that smoke, please be aware that Barwon Health is a smoke-free zone, and there is nicotine support available. Any concerns should be discussed with the treating doctor as soon as possible.   Designated times may be available for short-term leave; however, this may not always be possible, particularly at the start of a stay at the Swanston Centre.
