See your GP

Your GP (local doctor) is often a good place to start

Why do I need a GP?

Based on your needs they can help with

  • Treatment including medications
  • Referral to the right help/services
  • Assessment and planning

Worried about the cost?

GPs do assessments for a mental health care plan. Mental health care plans provide a medicare rebate for approved mental health services. (E.g. psychologist, social worker at a reduced rate. Gap payments often apply, so check with the service provider)

The best way to feel better is through:

  • Seeking medical help from a GP
  • Social supports (family, friends and community)
  • Mental health experts
