Clozapine Program
The Clozapine Program is operated by Barwon Health mental health. The program is designed to support people with severe mental illness who are prescribed Clozapine. Care can be provided by the Community Mental Health Teams or by a GP under the direction of a private psychiatrist. (GP Shared Care Program)
Services include providing Clozapine training and support to the GP, assisting the coordination of pathology testing, facilitating six monthly psychiatrist reviews, monitoring the client's progress and coordinating services. Referral is via specialist mental health services.
Eligibility Criteria for GP Shared Care Program: A person, who is being prescribed Clozapine, is under the care of a GP who has received appropriate Clozapine training and who has agreed to provide ongoing care.
