Together with the community the Barwon Health Foundation invests in excellence in medical services, facilities, education and research to advance health and wellbeing for all.
The Barwon Health Foundation was established in 2002 to assist Barwon Health in achieving world class health standards through fundraising and philanthropy.
The Foundation exists to create and nurture philanthropic partnerships between the community and Barwon Health. It is the vehicle through which individuals, community groups and organisations can contribute to Barwon Health's further development as a specialist provider of acute, rehabilitation, aged and community health care, providing the community with access to a comprehensive range of health care services. It is also a vehicle for providing a source of funds to advance the development of clinical research conducted at by Barwon Health.
The Foundation works to develop a donor base and to explore and implement contemporary concepts of fundraising. The Foundation's role in facilitating fundraising, will contribute to the provision of excellence in health care for the population in the Barwon and South-West regions of the state.
The activities of the Barwon Health Foundation are directed towards the following objectives:
- To raise funds for the purchase of equipment and medical facilities
- To help increase patient comfort and care
- To fund medical research and scholarships undertaken by Barwon Health
- To raise funds for vital capital campaigns
Leave a bequest or fund an item on a research wish list through the Barwon Health Foundation. No matter what size, your philanthropic support will deliver an immediate impact.

Participate in a Clinical Trial
Barwon Health has been conducting clinical trial research for more than 25 years. Our longevity and success is thanks to thousands of volunteers, who dedicate their time to support research and improve the health of our region and future generations.
Numerous studies have demonstrated better clinical outcomes for clinical trial participants irrespective of treatment allocation (active intervention or control group) because of the expert monitoring and treatment they receive as part of the clinical trial.
Barwon Health’s Adrian Costa Clinical Trials Centre coordinates the organisation's work in this area.
