Cardiology - Krystle Wilson

Background

I completed a Bachelor of Nursing in 2006 at the University of Ballarat. I then went on to complete a Graduate Nurse Program at The Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2007. In 2008, I moved to Perth where I worked as an RN at the newly created State Major Trauma Unit, whilst completing my honours at Murdoch University. At the end of 2009, I worked at the UHG Emergency Department. In 2010, I moved into a role as a Research Assistant at Monash University for the Department of Epidemiology, where I began a Masters of Public Health, majoring in clinical research.

In 2014, I took on an ANUM role at the McKellar Centre (Ortho/Trauma) while completing my Master’s thesis. In addition to my ANUM role, in 2017, I held a Sessional Lecturer position at Deakin University, teaching into Quality and Safety and Research units. My main role since 2018, is as a Research Nurse within the Cardiology Research Unit at UHG.

Research Focus

The cardiology research unit focuses on running clinical trials focusing on areas such as heart failure, obesity, diabetes and heart attacks, additionally, my personal research interests are around the performance of clinical trial units and how we can use the information we learn from research to inform education and clinical policy.
