2021 BH DU Research Prizes - Open Now

Thursday, 02 September 2021

As part of our commitment to supporting the next generation of clinical and academic health and medical researchers, we are delighted to announce the 2021 Barwon Health and Deakin University (BH DU) Research Prizes.

The Best Research Poster Awards recognise the most outstanding research communicated via poster format conducted by Barwon Health and Deakin University researchers in seven key research areas. Abstracts submitted for the Best Poster Awards by eligible Barwon Health clinical staff will also be considered for a Barwon Health Medical Staff Group (MSG) Prize.

The Best Paper of the Year recognises a paper of outstanding quality by a Barwon Health and Deakin University researcher, accepted or published during 2020 and 2021.

Applications for both prizes are now open, and the deadline hs been extended to Friday 8 October.

Winners will be announced at the BH DU Research & Grand Round Webinar on Tuesday 30 November.

BH DU Best Research Poster Awards

Posters have long been a valuable opportunity to recognise researcher achievements, communicate findings and stimulate discussion, networking and the exchange of ideas between researchers and their colleagues. Current restrictions prevent us from holding a physical poster exhibition, so we have adapted to a virtual poster exhibition format so that these opportunities for development and recognition are not lost.

Applicants submit a 250 word abstract about their research for review by a panel of experts from Barwon Health and Deakin University, in one of seven categories:

  • Allied Health/Pharmacy
  • Basic Science
  • Implementation Science
  • Medical
  • Nursing
  • Population Health
  • Surgery

Authors of highly rated abstracts will be invited to prepare and submit a PDF poster about their research for display in the 2021 BH DU Virtual Poster Exhibition.

Winners will be announced at the BH DU Research & Grand Round Webinar on Tuesday 30 November. The best poster in each category will receive a prize of $500, with thanks to Barwon Health and Deakin University.
